A jug gasket creates a liquid-tight seal between the blending jug and its lid or base, preventing leaks while the blades rotate at high speed. The gasket sits in a groove around the rim of the jug, compressed when the lid is locked into place. This compression forces the gasket material to fill any microscopic gaps, stopping liquid from escaping even under the pressure of fast-moving blades and turbulent ingredients.

To use the gasket, the operator first removes the old one from the jug rim. The new gasket is pressed into the groove, ensuring it lies flat and evenly all the way round. The jug is then reassembled onto the motor base, the lid is secured, and the blending programme is started. Throughout operation, the gasket maintains its seal, allowing the machine to process liquids, purées or batters without spillage.

The gasket is a precision-moulded ring of food-safe elastomer, sized to match the jug's rim. Its cross-section is designed to compress just enough to seal without distorting the jug or making the lid difficult to close. Over time, the material may harden or develop small cracks, at which point the gasket should be replaced to restore a reliable seal.
