A gas ignition lead carries the spark from the ignition module to the burner electrode in professional gas appliances. The spark jumps across a small gap at the burner head, igniting the gas and air mixture that flows from the jet. This method provides instant, controlled ignition without a standing pilot flame, reducing gas consumption and eliminating the need for manual lighting.

The operator connects the faston terminal at one end of the lead to the ignition module inside the appliance and routes the cable to the burner assembly. The other end clips onto the electrode, which is positioned close to the gas jet. When the appliance calls for heat, the module sends a high-voltage pulse through the lead, creating the spark that lights the burner. The sequence repeats automatically each time the appliance cycles, ensuring reliable ignition without user intervention.
