The KFE series ice makers, with sub-cooling technology are built entirely of stainless steel. This series is manufactured according to the most advanced technology available and features extreme versatility.
The “KFE Split” version allows the cooling/compressor unit to be installed separately, making it suitable for situations where workspace is limited or where specific cooling/ventilation requirements must be met.
Ice flakes
A continuous supply of dry flake ice keeps drinks chilled and food displays crisp without dilution. The KASTEL KFE600 split ice maker forms flat ice flakes 1.5 mm thick at temperatures between -5 °C and -7 °C.
Flake ice machines freeze water on the surface of a refrigerated drum. As the drum rotates, a stationary blade shaves off thin layers, which fall into a storage container. The split design of the KFE600 moves the compressor and condenser to a separate unit, reducing heat and noise in the work area and allowing flexible placement in tight or remote locations.
To operate, connect the water supply and power, then switch on the electric control system. The machine begins production automatically, filling the separate storage container until it reaches capacity. A sensor stops production to prevent overflow, resuming once ice is removed. The operator simply scoops ice as needed, with no further adjustment required during service.
The KFE600 is constructed with a stainless steel cover available as an option. The main unit measures 600 mm wide, 640 mm deep and 845 mm high, weighing 115 kg, making it suitable for floor placement near prep areas or under worktops with sufficient clearance. The separate compressor unit can be installed up to several metres away, freeing counter space in bars or display kitchens.
Controls consist of an electric system that manages production, storage and safety functions. The machine operates on a 400 V three-phase 50 Hz supply, typical of professional catering circuits, and uses refrigerant R452 A for efficient cooling. The stated power rating of 0.58 kW reflects the electrical load, while the required cooling power of 2.41 kW ensures rapid ice formation even in warm environments.
The 600 kg daily capacity supports high-volume venues such as banquet halls, hotel breakfast services or event bars, where ice demand fluctuates but must never run out. The separate storage container allows continuous production without interruption, as ice can be removed while the machine continues to operate.
Cleaning involves regular removal of ice build-up from the drum and blade, and sanitising the water system to prevent mineral deposits. The stainless steel cover, where fitted, can be wiped down with standard kitchen sanitiser. The split design simplifies maintenance by isolating the compressor, reducing the need to access the main unit for routine checks.
An optional stainless steel cover is available for enhanced durability and hygiene. The KFE600 is part of the KASTEL professional ice maker range, positioned for medium to large establishments requiring reliable, high-output ice production.
