The KFE series ice makers, with sub-cooling technology are built entirely of stainless steel. This series is manufactured according to the most advanced technology available and features extreme versatility.
The “KFE Split” version allows the cooling/compressor unit to be installed separately, making it suitable for situations where workspace is limited or where specific cooling/ventilation requirements must be met.
Ice flakes
An ice maker that produces thin, dry flakes continuously keeps drinks chilled and food displays crisp without dilution. The KASTEL KFE1500 Split generates flake ice by spraying water onto a refrigerated drum. As the drum rotates, the water freezes into a thin layer, then a scraper peels off flakes approximately 1.5 mm thick. The flakes emerge at a temperature between -5 °C and -7 °C, so they stay separate and do not clump, making them easy to portion and distribute.
To operate the machine, connect the water supply and electrical circuit, then switch on the control panel. The unit begins producing ice automatically; once the storage container is full, production pauses until ice is removed. The separate compressor unit can be installed in a plant room or outside, reducing noise and heat in the serving area. A stainless steel cover is available to protect the production module and match the finish of other catering equipment.
The KFE1500 Split is built with a stainless steel evaporator drum and a corrosion-resistant frame. The control system is electric, with no mechanical timers or relays, so settings remain stable over long service periods. Refrigerant R452 A circulates through the system, providing efficient cooling while meeting current environmental standards.
A capacity of 1500 kg per 24 hours means the machine can supply a busy bar or restaurant throughout service without running out. The 400 V/3N 50 Hz supply requires a three-phase circuit, which is standard in professional kitchens and ensures consistent power for continuous operation. At 235 kg, the production unit is heavy enough to remain stable on a worktop or floor, yet compact enough to fit through standard doorways and service hatches. The footprint of 600 mm by 640 mm allows it to be placed alongside sinks, under counters or in tight corners where space is limited.
Cleaning involves flushing the water circuit to remove mineral deposits, wiping the drum and scraper with a food-safe sanitiser, and checking the refrigerant charge during scheduled maintenance. The separate compressor unit requires periodic inspection of fans and coils to maintain airflow and cooling efficiency.
The KFE1500 is available in a split configuration only, with the compressor unit supplied separately. An optional stainless steel cover can be added at the time of order.
