This KASTEL ice maker transforms mains water into solid, slow-melting cubes continuously. The KV35/12 model employs a finger evaporator to freeze water in layers, forming cubes that retain their shape in drinks and displays. The design resists limescale accumulation, ensuring clear cube production even with hard water.
Water flows into the evaporator fingers, where a refrigeration cycle cools it below freezing. Each layer solidifies before the next is added, building the cube to full size. A short defrost pulse releases the cubes into the storage container below. An electronic control system initiates the next cycle automatically, refilling the container without manual intervention.
To operate, connect the water supply, plug the unit into a 230 V socket, and switch it on. The control panel shows the status, and production begins immediately. When the container holds 12 kg of cubes, the system pauses until some are removed. A transparent window on the front allows staff to check the level easily.
The cabinet is made of stainless steel for durability and easy cleaning. The refrigerant, R290, is a hydrocarbon that cools efficiently and is environmentally friendly. Adjustable feet ensure the unit sits level on uneven surfaces.
With a 0.23 kW power rating, the machine draws a modest load, suitable for standard circuits in professional kitchens. The 37 kg weight allows two people to move it without equipment, while the 450 mm width fits through narrow doorways. The 230 V single-phase supply matches the UK standard voltage, requiring no special wiring.
Maintenance involves regular cleaning. Descale the water circuit monthly if the water is hard, using a food-safe descaler. Wipe the evaporator fingers with a soft cloth, and remove the storage container for washing in warm soapy water. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
A water-cooled variant is available at an additional cost. The standard air-cooled model is article KV35/12-W/A.
