The KS series ice makers, made entirely of stainless steel, stand out for their innovative mechanical design.
Cooling system - water or air
Granular ice
Granular ice forms continuously in a sealed evaporator chamber where refrigerant R290 circulates. The refrigerant absorbs heat from water sprayed across the cold surface, freezing it into small, wet granules that slide into the storage container. Because the ice remains slightly below 0 °C and retains about 25% residual water, it clings to bottles and glasses without shattering, melts slowly, and keeps drinks chilled without diluting them quickly.
The operator fills the built-in water reservoir, switches the machine on, and the mechanical control system starts the refrigeration cycle. Water is pumped over the evaporator, frozen, and the loose granules drop into the 20 kg container beneath. When the container is full, the machine pauses production until ice is removed, then resumes automatically. No timer or temperature adjustment is needed; the cycle runs until the container is emptied or the water supply is exhausted.
The KS120/20 is built with a stainless-steel evaporator and a plastic storage container. The exterior housing is powder-coated steel for corrosion resistance in humid environments. A water-cooling system removes excess heat from the condenser, allowing the unit to operate in warm kitchens without overheating. The mechanical control panel includes a single on-off switch and a power indicator light.
A daily output of 120 kg means the machine can supply a busy bar or restaurant throughout service without running empty. The 20 kg container holds enough ice for immediate use, reducing the need to open the machine repeatedly. A 0.68 kW power rating keeps the electrical load low, suitable for a standard 230 V single-phase circuit found in most professional kitchens. The 64 kg weight allows two people to move the unit into position without a trolley, while the 500 mm width fits through narrow doorways and under low worktops.
Cleaning involves emptying the container, wiping the interior surfaces with a mild sanitiser, and flushing the water system to remove mineral deposits. The evaporator and condenser coils should be brushed periodically to maintain airflow and efficiency. The water-cooling system requires a continuous water supply and a drain connection to remove excess water.
A variant with a water-cooling system is available for environments where air cooling is insufficient. The KS120/20 is listed in the catalogue under professional ice machines for bars, restaurants and display applications.
