An induction hob transfers energy directly into the base of magnetic cookware, creating heat instantly without warming the surface first. This method eliminates the lag of traditional electric or gas hobs, so the pan responds the moment the setting changes. The hob itself stays cool to the touch around the cookware, reducing the risk of burns and making spills easier to wipe away.
The IKP 60 has four separate cooking zones, each controlled by a touch slider that adjusts power in nine steps. A single movement along the scale sets the exact level needed, whether simmering a sauce or searing meat. When a pan is placed on a zone, the hob detects its presence and begins heating; lift the pan and the zone switches off automatically, saving energy and preventing accidental activation.
Power Boost temporarily raises the output of a selected zone, cutting the time to bring water to the boil or heat oil for frying. The boost lasts up to ten minutes before reverting to the previous setting. A built-in timer can be set for any zone up to ninety-nine minutes; when the time elapses, the zone turns off without further attention.
Safety features include a child lock that disables the controls until released, and an automatic shut-off if the hob overheats, if liquid spills over, or if a pan is removed. The surface is a single sheet of toughened glass ceramic, resistant to scratches and thermal shock, mounted in a stainless-steel frame.
Each cooking zone is marked on the surface, guiding placement of pots and pans. The hob requires a three-phase 400 V supply for full power, or can run on a single-phase 230 V circuit at reduced output. Its footprint of 590 by 520 millimetres fits standard worktop cut-outs, and the unit weighs 8.73 kilograms, allowing one person to lift and position it.
Cleaning involves wiping the glass ceramic surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent after each use, while the stainless-steel trim can be polished with a non-abrasive cleaner. The touch controls are sealed beneath the glass, so no moisture enters the electronics.
The IKP 60 is listed in the Scandomestic HOME catalogue under induction hobs for professional and domestic kitchens.
