A chest freezer keeps food solidly frozen by trapping cold air inside a sealed, insulated box. Because cold air sinks, the freezer holds its temperature with less energy than an upright model, and the lid seals tightly to prevent warm air entering when opened. To use the freezer, plug it into a standard 230 V socket and set the manual temperature control to maintain below -18 °C.
