A gear drives the rotating components inside a coffee machine, transferring power from the motor to the grinder, brew group or pump. The teeth mesh with a matching gear or chain, converting the motor's rotation into the precise movement that meters coffee, opens valves or advances the brewing cycle. Without a secure, smooth drive the machine cannot dose accurately or maintain consistent pressure, so the gear's fit and tooth profile are critical to performance.

The operator does not handle the gear directly. Once the machine's outer panels are removed, the old gear is unbolted from its shaft, the new one is slid into place and secured with the same fixing, and the panels are refitted. Alignment is checked by turning the shaft by hand before power is restored.
