A gasket seals the gap between two surfaces in a coffee machine, preventing steam, water or grounds from escaping. In this type of appliance, the gasket sits between the brew group and the portafilter or between the boiler and its housing. When the machine is closed, the gasket compresses slightly, creating a tight seal that keeps pressure inside the brewing chamber. Without it, the machine cannot build the pressure needed to extract coffee properly, and leaks will occur around the portafilter or boiler.
The operator removes the old gasket by prising it out of its groove, then presses the new one into place until it sits evenly around the entire circumference. No tools are required, but the machine must be switched off and cool before the work begins. Once fitted, the gasket should be checked for a flush fit and tested with a dry cycle to confirm no leaks.
This gasket is made to the exact dimensions of the original part: 44.6 mm outer diameter, 37.3 mm inner diameter and 3.8 mm thickness. The material is food-safe synthetic rubber, chosen for its resistance to heat and compression set. It remains flexible at brewing temperatures and does not harden or crack under repeated use.
The gasket fits coffee machines from Bosch, Siemens, Balay, Krups, Melitta, Miele, Nivona and AEG. It is listed in the catalogue under spare parts for professional catering equipment, specifically for coffee machines and espresso units.
