Filter holder gasket LF L1186871

A filter holder gasket creates the seal between the portafilter and the group head of an espresso machine. Without this seal, hot pressurised water would leak past the basket instead of being forced through the coffee puck, so the shot would lose pressure and extract unevenly. The gasket sits in a groove in the portafilter and compresses against the group head when the handle is locked in place, forming a tight, heat-resistant barrier that keeps the water path closed until the shot is pulled.

To replace the gasket, the portafilter is removed from the machine. The old gasket is pried out of its groove with a small tool, taking care not to scratch the metal. The new gasket is pressed evenly into the groove until it sits flush and level all the way round. The portafilter is then reattached to the group head and tested with a blank shot to confirm the seal holds pressure.

This gasket is made to the exact dimensions of Spaziale filter holders: 63 mm outer diameter, 52 mm inner diameter and 6.5 mm thickness. The material is food-safe synthetic rubber chosen for resilience at espresso-brewing temperatures and repeated compression cycles.
