An electronic handwheel replaces the manual wheel on PIRON convection and steam furnaces, converting rotary movement into motorised adjustment of oven parameters. Instead of turning a knob by hand, the operator sends a signal to a small electric actuator that moves the internal mechanism in fine, repeatable increments. This removes the effort of manual turning and allows settings to be changed with consistent precision, even when the oven door is closed and the cavity is hot.
The sequence of use is simple. The operator presses the handwheel lightly to wake the electronics, then rotates it clockwise or anti-clockwise to raise or lower the target value—temperature, humidity, fan speed or cooking time. Each click corresponds to a single increment, so small adjustments can be made without overshooting. When the desired setting is reached, the handwheel is pressed again to confirm and the new value is sent to the oven's control board. The display updates immediately, showing the change before the cooking programme continues.
Construction is a sealed rotary encoder mounted behind a smooth, low-profile knob. The encoder registers each turn and transmits the count to the oven's microprocessor, which translates it into the appropriate command. Because the handwheel is electronic, there are no mechanical linkages to wear or bind, and the absence of a physical connection to the oven's internal parts simplifies cleaning around the control panel.
This version fits PIRON convection and steam furnaces only, replacing the original manual handwheel with an electronic interface that integrates directly with the oven's existing control system.
