6 spits, 960 mm; Armored Resistors
A vertical chicken grill rotates poultry on spits in front of radiant elements, exposing every part of the bird to even heat. The rotation keeps the meat moist while the skin crisps, and the vertical orientation lets fat drip away instead of pooling, so the finished product is lighter and more consistent than on a horizontal grill.
The 36P-ELBA Planetario electric model from Elangrill loads six birds at once on two independent spits. Each spit is driven by its own motor, so one can be stopped while the other continues; the Grill Plus system lets the operator rotate a spit towards the door without turning the disc, making it easier to remove or check a single bird. The door is Low-E tempered glass, which stays cool to the touch and gives a clear view of the cooking process.
To use the grill, the operator slides each bird onto a spit rod, secures it with the split forks, and closes the door. The power is set to the required level, and the motors start the rotation. The interior lighting comes on automatically, so the cooking can be monitored without opening the door. When the birds are done, the door is opened, the spit is rotated to the front, and the bird is lifted off. The removable fat collection bucket catches drippings during cooking and is emptied after each service.
The cabinet is ribbed and reinforced stainless steel, chosen for its resistance to corrosion and high temperatures. The spits are tubular stainless steel, 12 mm square and 543 mm long, and the motors run on 230 V for quiet operation. The overall footprint is 1211 mm wide, 666 mm deep and 735 mm high, so it fits on most worktops without overhang.
The 10 kW power rating means the grill requires a dedicated 400 V three-phase circuit, which is standard in professional kitchens but must be planned before installation. The voltage is not adjustable, so the unit cannot be used on a single-phase supply. The weight of the grill is not stated, but the stainless steel construction and reinforced frame suggest it is built for permanent installation rather than frequent movement.
Cleaning is straightforward: the fat bucket is removed and washed, the glass door is wiped down, and the spits are taken out and scrubbed. The stainless steel interior and exterior can be cleaned with standard kitchen sanitiser, and the ribbed surface helps prevent grease from sticking. No disassembly is required beyond removing the spits and the bucket.
The 36P-ELBA is part of Elangrill's Elba series, which is designed for small to medium-scale production. It is listed in the catalogue under electric grills and rotisseries.
