| NOTES | Refrigerant gas : R290 |
5 GN 1/1
A static refrigerated cold module keeps prepared food chilled inside a stainless-steel well without forced air circulation. A compressor draws heat from the well through refrigerant-filled coils, lowering the temperature to the set point and holding it there. Because the cooling is static, the air moves only by natural convection, so humidity stays higher and food stays fresher longer than in a fan-assisted unit. The refrigerant R290 (propane) is a natural gas with low global-warming potential, chosen for its efficiency in small refrigeration systems.
The operator lowers GN 1/1 gastronorm pans into the 260 mm-deep well, which has rounded edges for easy cleaning. A digital thermostat on the front panel sets the temperature between 2 °C and 10 °C, and the display shows the current reading. When the module is ordered with built-in refrigeration, the compressor starts automatically to maintain the set point; when ordered for remote refrigeration, the well connects to an external compressor unit elsewhere in the kitchen. A drain cock at the base of the well allows condensate and cleaning water to be released without lifting the module.
The module is built as a drop-in unit with a stainless-steel frame and a 26 cm-deep well. The standard finish includes a stainless-steel structure; optional LED lighting illuminates the well from above. Tempered-glass sneeze-guards in straight or inclined profiles can be added to one side, and closed tempered-glass displays are available for assisted service. A removable display grid and spacers for GN tanks are also offered as options. The external dimensions of 1821 × 747 × 680 mm fit a standard worktop cut-out, while the well itself measures 1666 × 592 mm.
A power rating of 0.330 kW indicates the load on the electrical supply; when LED lighting is added, the total power increases. The 230 V requirement means the module plugs into a standard single-phase circuit found in most professional kitchens. The 51 kg weight shows that the unit is designed to be moved by two people or with a trolley, not lifted by hand. The temperature range of 2–10 °C covers holding chilled starters, desserts, salads and pre-plated dishes, but not freezing or blast-chilling.
Cleaning involves wiping the stainless-steel surfaces daily and sanitising the well. The drain cock at the base allows the well to be emptied and rinsed without removing the module from the worktop. The rounded edges of the well prevent food debris from collecting, and the removable display grid and sneeze-guard options can be taken off for thorough cleaning. If the module is ordered with remote refrigeration, the external compressor unit must be serviced separately according to its own schedule.
Two variants are available: one with built-in refrigeration and one ready for remote connection. The module is designed to hold five GN 1/1 gastronorm pans, though the pans themselves are not included. Optional spacers allow the use of shallower GN tanks if needed. The catalogue places the DROP-IN-5R in the refrigerated counters and drop-in modules section, alongside other static and ventilated cold wells.
