4 GN 1/1
A refrigerated drop-in module that sits flush into a worktop and circulates chilled air across the surface to keep food at safe holding temperatures. Instead of relying on still air inside a cabinet, a quiet fan draws warm air from above the food, passes it over an evaporator coil chilled by R290 refrigerant, and then blows the cooled air back across the food through a series of vents. The continuous air curtain maintains an even temperature throughout the well, reducing hot spots and cutting energy use compared with static refrigeration.
The operator slides GN pans or gastronorm containers directly into the well, adjusting the height of the bottom panels to fit pans up to 100 mm deep. Once the pans are in place, the unit is switched on and the temperature set between +2 °C and +10 °C. The fan starts automatically, circulating the air curtain that keeps the food chilled without drying it out. During service, the food remains visible and accessible from the front, while the air curtain helps prevent warm air from entering when the well is opened.
The module is built on a stainless-steel frame that supports the evaporator, fan and control panel. The well itself is formed from stainless steel, with adjustable-height bottom panels that can be removed entirely for thorough cleaning. Optional LED lighting illuminates the food from above, and tempered-glass sneeze guards or closed display panels can be added to protect the food while keeping it visible to customers.
A 230 V single-phase supply powers the unit, suitable for a standard UK kitchen circuit. The 0.358 kW power rating reflects the load when running without optional LED lighting; adding lighting increases the load slightly. The external dimensions of 1496 mm wide by 747 mm deep by 680 mm high allow the module to fit into most standard worktop cut-outs, while the well itself measures 1341 mm by 592 mm, providing space for multiple GN pans. The 56 kg weight means the unit can be moved by two people and positioned on a sturdy worktop or counter.
The temperature range of +2 °C to +10 °C is designed for holding chilled food, such as salads, desserts or pre-plated dishes, rather than for rapid chilling or freezing. The well depth of 260 mm accommodates pans up to 100 mm high, leaving space for the air curtain to circulate above the food. The removable bottom panels simplify cleaning, as they can be taken out to wash separately, and the stainless-steel surfaces can be wiped down with standard kitchen sanitiser.
Two main variants are available: one with an integrated refrigeration unit (standard) and one without, designed for remote refrigeration systems where the compressor is located elsewhere in the kitchen. Optional accessories include LED lighting, various tempered-glass display panels, removable display grids and spacers for GN tanks, allowing the module to be customised for different service styles.
The module is classified as a drop-in cold unit for professional catering worktops, typically used in buffet lines, salad bars or assisted-service counters where food needs to be kept chilled and visible.
