A refrigerated drop-in module keeps prepared food chilled from below by circulating cold air through vents in the well. The fan draws heat away from the pans and spreads an even temperature across every item, preventing warm spots that shorten shelf life. This method uses less energy than static cooling because the moving air carries heat faster than still air can absorb it, and the module maintains the set temperature with tighter control. The operator loads gastronorm pans into the well, adjusting or removing the bottom panels to fit pans up to 100 mm deep. Once the pans are in place, the unit is switched on and the temperature set between 2 °C and 10 °C. The fan starts automatically, circulating cold air across the pans and creating an air blade that seals the cold zone. The display remains accessible from the service side while the public side can be fitted with a tempered-glass sneeze-guard or closed display. The module is built with a stainless-steel structure and includes a well with adjustable, removable bottom panels. Optional LED lighting can be added to illuminate the display, and the unit is designed to accept additional tempered-glass panels for assisted service or closed displays. Inside the module, R290 refrigerant circulates through the evaporator coils, chilling the air blade that cascades over every GN pan without frost or hot spots. Controls consist of a thermostat to set the temperature within the 2 °C to 10 °C range. The 230 V voltage requirement matches standard UK commercial circuits, allowing the unit to be connected without special wiring. The 0.348 kW power rating indicates the load on the circuit, which may increase slightly if LED lighting is added. The external dimensions of 1171 x 747 x 680 mm provide a compact footprint for integration into a worktop, while the well dimensions of 1016 x 592 mm accommodate standard gastronorm pans. The unit weighs 52 kg, making it manageable for installation and repositioning with two people. The temperature range of 2 °C to 10 °C is suited for holding chilled foods such as salads, desserts, or pre-prepared dishes, but not for freezing. Cleaning involves removing the bottom panels to access the well, allowing thorough washing and sanitising. The removable panels also simplify maintenance of the vents and fan. The module is available in two configurations: one with an included refrigeration unit and another ready for remote refrigeration connection, allowing flexibility in kitchen layout and cooling system design. Optional accessories include various tempered-glass sneeze-guards, closed displays, removable grid displays, and spacers for gastronorm tanks. The unit can also be adapted for 60 Hz compressors or remote refrigeration units, depending on the installation requirements.
