Defrost water coil Tefcold SpareParts 13237

A defrost water coil removes ice build-up from the evaporator of a refrigeration unit without raising the internal temperature. In a fish cooler like the RKS600-I, frost forms as moisture from stored seafood condenses and freezes on the cold surfaces. Left unchecked, this ice insulates the evaporator, forcing the compressor to run longer and reducing cooling efficiency. The defrost water coil circulates warm water through a closed loop inside the evaporator, melting the ice while the rest of the cabinet stays cold. The meltwater drains away, restoring airflow and preventing ice from blocking the cooling fins.

To use the coil, the operator connects it to the defrost water circuit of the RKS600-I. When the defrost cycle begins, the control system opens the water valve, allowing warm water to flow through the coil. The water absorbs heat from the ice, melting it evenly across the evaporator. Once the cycle ends, the valve closes, stopping the water flow and letting the evaporator return to cooling temperature. The process is automatic and requires no manual intervention beyond routine checks to ensure the coil remains clear and the drain is unobstructed.

The coil is constructed to fit the RKS600-I fish cooler and is designed for continuous exposure to water and low temperatures. It connects directly to the existing defrost system of the unit, ensuring compatibility with the cooler's controls and water supply.

This spare part is specific to the RKS600-I model and is listed under refrigeration components in the Tefcold spare parts catalogue.
