A refrigeration controller regulates the cooling cycle in professional catering equipment, maintaining the precise temperature needed to keep food safe without freezing it. It monitors the internal climate, switching the compressor and fans on or off to hold the set point, and adjusts for door openings or new stock. Without a working controller, the unit either over-chills, wasting energy, or under-chills, risking spoilage.

The operator sets the desired temperature on the controller, which then runs the refrigeration system automatically. When the unit is powered on, the controller reads the current temperature and compares it to the set point. If the cabinet is too warm, it starts the compressor and fans, pulling heat out of the air until the target is reached. Once the temperature stabilises, the controller cycles the compressor intermittently to maintain the climate, compensating for heat gain through insulation and door use. Alarms or error codes appear on the display if the system cannot hold the set point, alerting staff to check the door seal, stock load or power supply.

This LF Carel controller is constructed as a direct replacement for the original part in ILSA refrigerated tables, cupboards and neutral counters. It fits the specified models without modification, connecting to the existing wiring and mounting points. The unit is installed by unplugging the old controller, aligning the new one in the same position, and securing it with the original fixings. Once connected, the controller resumes control of the refrigeration cycle, restoring the unit's automatic temperature regulation.

Cleaning is limited to wiping the exterior with a damp cloth to remove dust or grease, avoiding solvents that could damage the housing or display. No internal maintenance is required, as the controller has no user-serviceable parts.
