| NOTES | Refrigerant gas : R290 |
5 GN 1/1
A refrigerated countertop drop-in unit keeps prepared dishes chilled at serving height without breaking the workflow of a professional kitchen. The ROCAM DROP-IN-5PR uses static cooling: a compressor circulates refrigerant gas through concealed coils beneath the work surface. The gas absorbs heat from the food area and expels it at the rear, maintaining a steady low temperature above the counter. Because the cooling is static rather than forced by a fan, the unit avoids drying out uncovered dishes and prevents cross-contamination from moving air. The refrigerant, R290, is a hydrocarbon with low environmental impact, chosen for its efficiency in small refrigeration systems. The operator loads the chilled area from above, placing GN 1/1 gastronorm containers directly onto the stainless-steel shelf. A removable 8 cm high Plexiglas frame surrounds the shelf, retaining the cold air and acting as a barrier against ambient heat. When larger trays or plates are needed, the frame lifts off, extending the usable space. Temperature is set via a digital thermostat on the control panel, allowing adjustment between +2 °C and +10 °C to suit different food safety requirements. The unit operates on a standard 230 V single-phase supply, drawing 0.330 kW under normal conditions, with additional load if LED lighting is fitted. Construction centres on a stainless-steel structure that supports the refrigeration components and the worktop. The worktop itself is made of Hanex®, a solid surface material resistant to stains and scratches, while the visible edges are finished in stainless steel. The drop-in design allows the unit to sit flush within a counter, with external dimensions of 1821 mm wide, 747 mm deep and 420 mm high. The top surface measures 1625 mm by 575 mm, providing ample space for five GN 1/1 containers. A 47 kg weight ensures stability once installed, though the unit is designed to be moved into place before final positioning. Controls consist of a digital thermostat that sets and displays the target temperature. The thermostat regulates the compressor to maintain the chosen range, cycling on and off as needed to compensate for ambient conditions and door openings. The 230 V voltage requirement matches the standard domestic and commercial supply in the UK, allowing the unit to be plugged into a dedicated circuit without special wiring. The 0.330 kW power rating indicates a modest electrical load, suitable for kitchens with multiple appliances. The seamless betacryl surface and removable Plexiglass frame let you wipe down the entire chilled top in one pass without dislodging trays or grids. The Hanex® worktop can be wiped down with standard kitchen sanitiser, while the stainless-steel interior and frame are cleaned with non-abrasive detergents. The Plexiglas frame is removable for thorough cleaning or replacement. The static cooling system has no fan or filters, reducing maintenance to occasional coil cleaning at the rear of the unit. The refrigeration circuit is sealed, requiring no user intervention beyond temperature adjustment. Two completion variants are available: one with an integrated refrigeration unit (STANDARD) and one without cooling, ready for remote refrigeration connection (REM). Optional accessories include LED lighting, tempered glass sneeze-guards in straight or inclined configurations, closed display units for assisted service, removable display grids, spacers for GN tanks, and a drain water system for connection to a waste line. The unit can also be specified with a 60 Hz compressor for regions with that frequency standard, or with a UK plug for direct connection. The DROP-IN-5PR is catalogued under refrigerated countertop units, designed for front-of-house display and back-of-house chilling in restaurants, hotels and catering operations.
