A strong support surface for manual meat processing.
Suitable for butchers and meat industries.
A butcher chopping block provides a solid, stable surface that absorbs the impact of cleavers and knives without dulling blades or damaging worktops. The mass of thick hardwood spreads the force of each cut, preventing the block from shifting and reducing vibration through the operator's hands and arms. Acacia, a dense tropical hardwood, resists splitting and warping better than softer woods, extending the working life of the block in a busy kitchen.
The block stands on its own integrated stool, raising the cutting surface to a comfortable working height. No additional stand or table is required; the stool is part of the construction and shares the same acacia timber and non-toxic treatment.
To prepare the block, the operator places it on a level floor, ensuring all four stool legs make even contact. Ingredients are positioned directly on the 70 cm square surface, and the cleaver or knife is used as needed. The 25 cm thickness prevents the blade from reaching the stool beneath, protecting both the tool and the block. After use, the surface is scraped clean and left to air-dry.
The block is assembled with pressure joints and internal wood inserts, eliminating metal fasteners that could loosen or corrode. The entire surface and stool are treated with non-toxic paint and ecological adhesives, complying with current food-safety standards. No chemical residue will transfer to food, and the treatment does not alter the natural hardness of the acacia.
The 700 mm width and depth provide ample space for portioning large cuts of meat, while the 900 mm overall height positions the surface at a standard worktop level. The 25 cm thickness adds substantial weight, keeping the block stable during heavy chopping without the need for clamps or additional supports.
Cleaning is limited to the exposed surfaces. The block should be scraped after each service, wiped with a damp cloth, and allowed to dry in a well-ventilated area. No water should be left standing on the surface, as prolonged moisture can cause the wood to swell. The non-toxic treatment does not require reapplication, but the block may be lightly sanded if the surface becomes uneven over time.
