Thermos with flask made of food-grade aluminum, 6l
- : BHS-HoReCa
- Article number: BHS0001
A thermos flask keeps liquids hot by trapping heat inside a double-walled container. The inner flask is made of a reflective material that bounces radiant heat back into the contents, while the vacuum or insulating layer between the walls slows the escape of heat by conduction and convection. This method allows the flask to maintain the temperature of soups, sauces or beverages for several hours without reheating, making it practical for off-site service or holding between meal services.
To use the flask, the operator fills the inner aluminium liner with hot liquid, ensuring the level stays below the neck to allow for expansion. The rubber sealing ring is placed over the rim, the metal lid is lowered and secured with the clamping screws. When the lid is tight, the flask can be carried or stacked without spillage. To serve, the screws are loosened, the lid is lifted and the liquid is poured directly from the flask or decanted into smaller containers.
The flask is housed in a coated steel case that resists corrosion and wear. The inner liner and the inside of the lid are both made of food-grade aluminium, which does not impart flavour and is easy to clean. A rubber sealing ring between the lid and the body prevents leaks and helps retain heat. The lid is pressed against the body with two screws that create an airtight seal.
The 6 litre capacity allows the flask to hold enough liquid for a full service without taking up excessive worktop space. The 260 mm diameter and 255 mm height fit under most standard worktop shelves and inside catering trolleys. At 3.1 kg empty, the flask can be carried by one person when full, and the smooth case surface makes it easy to wipe down between uses.
Cleaning involves rinsing the aluminium liner and lid with warm water after each use, then drying them to prevent oxidation. The rubber sealing ring should be checked regularly for wear and replaced if it becomes brittle or cracked. The coated steel case can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent, avoiding abrasive pads that could damage the finish.
The BHS Thermos 6 Litre is listed in the catering equipment catalogue under holding and transport equipment for hot liquids.
