A table base provides the rigid frame that turns a flat worktop into a stable work surface in a professional kitchen. The base carries the weight of the top, the food being prepared, and the equipment placed on it, while keeping the worktop at a comfortable height for standing work. Adjustable feet level the unit on uneven floors, preventing wobble and spills during busy service.
The E-25-1100 base is delivered as a kit of parts for self-assembly. The operator unpacks the base ring, the central column, the cross brace, the mounting plate, and the adjustment feet, then bolts them together following the included instructions. Once assembled, the base stands 1100 mm high, ready to receive a worktop up to 1300 mm long and 800 mm wide. The mounting plate, positioned at the top of the column, provides the surface to which the worktop is fixed; the plate measures 400 by 800 mm, so the worktop must be drilled or slotted to match these fixing points.
The base is constructed from AISI 201 stainless steel, brushed to reduce glare under kitchen lighting. The mounting plate is made from black painted steel, chosen for its strength and resistance to the heat and moisture of a working kitchen. Four adjustable feet, each 60 mm in diameter, allow the base to be levelled on floors that are not perfectly flat, ensuring the worktop remains steady during use.
The controls on the base are the four adjustment feet. Each foot is turned by hand to raise or lower that corner of the base, compensating for any slope in the floor. The feet are set before the worktop is fitted, and can be readjusted later if the floor settles or the unit is moved.
A maximum top size of 1300 by 800 mm means the base can support worktops that fit standard catering equipment such as bain-maries, prep tables, and under-counter refrigeration units. The 22 kg weight of the base indicates it is light enough to be moved by two people during installation, yet heavy enough to remain stable once the worktop is in place. The 1100 mm height places the worktop at a comfortable working level for most kitchen staff, reducing strain during long shifts.
Cleaning the base involves wiping down the stainless steel surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent, focusing on the column and base ring where food debris may collect. The adjustment feet should be checked periodically to ensure they are secure and free from grease, which could cause them to slip. The black painted mounting plate can be cleaned in the same way, but should not be exposed to abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
An optional variant of the E-25-1100 base is available with a different height, allowing the worktop to be positioned higher or lower to suit specific kitchen layouts or staff preferences.
The base is categorised under table frames and supports in the BHS professional catering equipment catalogue.
