A service trolley moves hot plates, plated dishes, trays of ingredients or stacks of clean crockery from the kitchen to the pass or from the store to the worktop without carrying. The trolley itself is a rigid frame on wheels; shelves at fixed heights hold the load level and stable while the unit rolls. Because the shelves are open, the operator can slide items on and off without lifting, and air circulates freely so that hot items cool evenly and condensation does not form on cold ones.

The operator loads each shelf in turn, starting at the top to keep the centre of gravity low. Once the trolley is full, the brakes are set on the two locking wheels and the unit is pushed to its destination. At the pass or the workstation the brakes are reapplied, the shelves are unloaded in the same order, and the empty trolley is returned for the next cycle.

Cleaning is straightforward: the stainless steel surfaces are wiped down with a damp cloth and sanitiser, the gaskets are cleaned in place, and the wheels are checked for debris that might impede movement. The welded construction means there are no crevices where dirt can accumulate, and the plastic bumper can be removed for thorough cleaning if necessary.
