An upper shelf adds organised storage above a catering worktop without claiming floor space. It creates a second tier for ingredients, utensils or plated dishes, keeping them within reach while the work surface stays clear for preparation. The shelf is fixed to the wall or to uprights on the worktop, raising it above head height so staff move underneath without obstruction.
The shelf is a flat tray of stainless steel supported by a welded frame. The frame distributes the load evenly across the fixing points, preventing sag and allowing the shelf to carry heavier items than a simple bracket would. Because it is mounted above the worktop, the shelf does not interfere with the hob, sink or other appliances below, and it can be positioned to suit the workflow of the kitchen.
To install, the shelf is first positioned at the desired height. Fixing holes in the frame are aligned with wall brackets or uprights on the worktop, then secured with screws or bolts. Once fixed, the shelf is ready to receive items. Its flat surface allows trays, containers or loose items to be placed directly on it, while the raised lip around the edge prevents them from sliding off during use.
Constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel, the shelf resists corrosion and staining from moisture, steam and cleaning chemicals. The welded joints eliminate crevices where dirt could collect, making the surface easier to sanitise. The frame is reinforced to prevent bending under load, ensuring the shelf remains level over time.
The shelf measures 1400 mm in length, 300 mm in depth and 700 mm in height. The 1400 mm length matches standard worktop widths, allowing the shelf to span the full length of a preparation area. The 300 mm depth provides enough space for trays or containers without encroaching on the work surface below. The 700 mm height places the shelf above eye level, keeping stored items visible while leaving clearance for staff to work underneath.
Cleaning is straightforward: the smooth stainless steel surface can be wiped down with a damp cloth and sanitiser. The welded construction means there are no seams or joints to trap debris, so regular wiping maintains hygiene. The shelf requires no maintenance beyond occasional checks of the fixings to ensure it remains secure.
