Double walled percolator
A percolator brews coffee by cycling hot water through a bed of ground beans. The heating element at the base raises the water temperature until it rises through a central tube, sprays over the grounds, and drips back down, extracting flavour with each pass. This continuous circulation produces a consistent, full-bodied brew without the need for paper filters or separate boilers.
To operate, fill the tank with cold water up to the marked level, add coffee grounds to the perforated basket, and place the basket inside the tank. Secure the lid and switch the unit on. The water heats, rises through the tube, and showers the grounds repeatedly until the desired strength is reached. Once brewing is complete, the percolator automatically switches to a keep-warm setting, maintaining the coffee at serving temperature without further extraction.
The construction is double-walled, polished stainless steel throughout the body and tank. This insulation reduces heat loss through conduction, convection and radiation, allowing the percolator to use up to 20% less energy than single-wall models. Stainless steel handles with silicone grips remain cool to the touch, while an anti-fouling coating inside the tank minimises scale build-up. A drip tray with a stainless steel grid catches any overflow and keeps the worktop clean.
The 1.5 kW power rating draws a steady load on a standard 230 V circuit, suitable for most professional kitchens without requiring a dedicated supply. The 10 litre volume produces enough coffee for large gatherings or continuous service, while the 5.65 kg weight allows the unit to be moved easily between stations. The 370 mm width, 390 mm depth and 525 mm height fit beneath standard worktop cupboards, leaving clearance for the lid to open fully.
Cleaning involves rinsing the tank and basket after each use to prevent residue build-up. The anti-fouling coating reduces the frequency of descaling, though periodic cleaning with a mild descaling agent is still recommended. The drip tray and grid are removable for washing, and the silicone grips wipe clean with a damp cloth.
The percolator is listed in the HENDI professional catering catalogue under coffee equipment.
