A lightweight thermal box ideal for catering companies and servicing various off-site events.
An insulated transport box keeps food at the temperature it was loaded, whether hot or chilled, by slowing the transfer of heat through its walls. The thick insulation traps air, which conducts heat poorly, so the interior stays close to its starting temperature for hours.
The operator loads the food into standard gastronorm containers, which are placed inside the box. The lid is closed and latched, sealing the interior. During transport the box is carried by its ergonomic side handles or stacked with others to save space. When the destination is reached, the lid is opened and the containers removed, still at the original temperature. The box itself remains cool to the touch on the outside, even when holding hot food, so it can be handled safely without gloves.
The box is constructed from a rigid outer shell and an inner lining, both made of materials that resist impact and corrosion. Between them is a layer of insulation that maintains the temperature barrier. The interior surface is coated to prevent food residue from sticking, to block odours and to allow quick cleaning with a cloth or sponge. The lid fits tightly and is secured with latches to prevent accidental opening during transport.
Controls are limited to the latches that lock the lid in place. These are simple mechanical closures that require no setting or adjustment; they are either open or closed.
The 39 litre capacity allows the box to hold several gastronorm containers at once, reducing the number of trips needed for large orders. The external dimensions of 674 by 400 by 287 millimetres fit on a standard delivery trolley or van shelf, while the internal space of 538 by 338 by 217 millimetres accommodates full-size containers without wasted space. The weight, though not specified, is light enough for one person to carry when empty, and the ergonomic handles make it comfortable to lift when loaded. The temperature range from –20 °C to +110 °C covers everything from frozen goods to freshly cooked dishes, so the box can be used for any type of food transport without risk of damage or spoilage.
Cleaning is straightforward: the interior is wiped down with a damp cloth and mild detergent after each use. The smooth coating prevents food from sticking, so no scrubbing is needed. The exterior can be cleaned the same way, and the handles and latches are designed to be wiped without trapping dirt. The box should be dried before storage to prevent moisture build-up, and it can be stacked with or without the lid to save space.
The box is sold without gastronorm containers, so these must be purchased separately. It is designed to stack with other identical boxes, both with and without lids, allowing multiple units to be transported or stored as a single unit.
This insulated box is listed in the HENDI catalogue under transport and storage equipment for professional kitchens.
