The KQ series ice makers are equipped with a vertically mounted evaporator made entirely of stainless steel and feature an innovative linear design along with high reliability.
Cooling system - water or air
Ice cubes 10 g (6/17 g on request)
An ice maker that builds solid cubes by freezing water in vertical cells, then warming the cells just enough to release the ice without melting it. The process repeats automatically, filling a separate container with cubes that stay clear and firm, resisting clumping even in warm bars.
Water enters the machine and is pumped into a grid of metal cells. A refrigeration circuit cools the cells below freezing, turning the water into ice. When the ice is ready, a brief heating cycle loosens the cubes so they drop into the storage bin. The cycle restarts immediately, allowing the KQ402 to run continuously throughout service.
The operator connects the water supply, switches the machine on and selects the cube size. The electronic control panel displays the status and signals when the container is full. No further intervention is needed until the container is emptied or the water filter requires cleaning.
The cabinet is stainless steel, designed to withstand daily use in humid environments. The refrigeration circuit uses R290 refrigerant, chosen for its low environmental impact and efficient heat transfer. A water-cooling option is available for installations where air cooling is impractical.
The control panel includes an on-off switch, a cube-size selector for 6 g, 10 g or 17 g cubes, and an indicator that shows when the container is full. A separate alarm sounds if the water supply is interrupted or the machine overheats.
A daily output of 400 kg means the machine can supply a busy bar or restaurant without requiring frequent attention. The 1.25 kW power rating matches a standard single-phase circuit, avoiding the need for special wiring. The 230 V supply is common in British commercial kitchens, so the machine plugs into existing outlets without modification.
The footprint of 760 mm by 620 mm fits under most worktops or on a sturdy shelf, while the 88 kg weight requires two people to move safely. The separate container allows the ice to be stored away from the machine, freeing up space during service.
Cleaning involves removing the water filter weekly, wiping the interior surfaces with a mild sanitiser, and defrosting the evaporator grid monthly. The stainless steel exterior can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner.
Two versions are offered: the standard air-cooled model and a water-cooled variant for environments where ambient temperatures are high or ventilation is limited.
The KQ402 is listed in the catalogue under Professional Ice Machines, alongside other KASTEL models for smaller and larger outputs.
