The KFE series ice makers, with sub-cooling technology are built entirely of stainless steel. This series is manufactured according to the most advanced technology available and features extreme versatility.
Cooling system - air
Ice flakes
A continuous supply of dry flake ice keeps drinks chilled and food displays crisp without dilution.
Flake ice forms when water freezes on the surface of a refrigerated drum. The drum rotates slowly, and a scraper peels off the frozen layer before it can thicken. Because the ice is harvested in thin sheets, it cools quickly and does not clump, ensuring a steady flow into the storage container.
To operate the KFE1500, connect the water supply and power. The machine starts automatically, filling the drum with water and cycling the refrigerant. Once the drum reaches the set temperature, the scraper begins removing ice flakes, which fall into the separate storage container. The control system monitors production and stops when the container is full, resuming only when space becomes available.
The KFE1500 is constructed with a stainless steel cover available as an option. The refrigerant used is R452 A, chosen for its balance of cooling efficiency and environmental considerations. The machine's footprint of 1380 mm by 740 mm by 970 mm fits into most back-of-house areas, while its 381 kg weight requires a stable floor or dedicated stand.
Controls consist of an electric control system that manages the refrigeration cycle, water flow, and ice production rate. The system ensures consistent flake thickness and dryness, adjusting automatically to maintain the target temperature range of -5 °C to -7 °C.
With a capacity of 1500 kg per 24 hours, the KFE1500 meets the demands of high-volume venues such as cocktail bars, banquet services, and hotel breakfast areas. The 5.5 kW power rating corresponds to a three-phase 400 V supply, typical for professional catering equipment. The separate storage container allows for flexible placement, accommodating different kitchen layouts.
Cleaning involves regular removal of mineral deposits from the drum and scraper. The stainless steel surfaces can be wiped down with approved sanitising solutions, while the refrigerant system requires periodic inspection by a qualified technician to ensure optimal performance.
An optional stainless steel cover is available for enhanced durability and ease of cleaning.
The KFE1500 is categorised under professional ice makers for continuous daily use in the KASTEL range.
