The SP series ice makers are made entirely of stainless steel. They are top-class units within the Kastel range, equipped with the latest technology to ensure maximum efficiency and long-lasting performance.
Cooling system - water or air
Full ice cube 36 gr (42×45 mm)
An ice maker that turns mains water into dense, slow-melting cubes for drinks and displays. The SP 100/60 chills a metal evaporator plate to sub-zero temperatures, causing water to freeze in measured layers. Each cycle yields 36 uniform cubes that drop into the insulated storage bin below. Because the cubes form gradually against a cold surface, they contain fewer air pockets than flaked or nugget ice, so they last longer in a glass or chilled platter without clouding or crumbling.
The operator connects a water supply, plugs the unit into a 230 V socket and selects the desired ice thickness on the electronic panel. The machine then runs unattended, cycling through freezing, harvesting and refilling until the 60 kg bin is full or the demand is met. A sensor stops production when the bin reaches capacity, preventing overflow and wasted energy. When cubes are removed, the machine automatically resumes, maintaining a steady supply throughout service.
The cabinet is built from corrosion-resistant materials to withstand constant moisture and temperature swings. The evaporator plate, water distribution system and storage bin are all accessible from the front, allowing quick daily wipe-downs and periodic descaling. The refrigerant R290 is chosen for its low environmental impact and efficient heat transfer, keeping the compressor workload light and energy use modest.
A single-phase 230 V connection means the unit can be installed on a standard kitchen circuit without special wiring. The 1.08 kW power rating reflects the compressor and pump load; in practice this draws about the same current as a commercial coffee machine, so it can share a circuit with other low-demand appliances. The 81 kg weight requires two people to move the unit into position, but once placed it remains stable on level flooring.
The 736×620×985 mm footprint fits under most worktops or against a wall, leaving space for a water supply line and drainage. A water-cooled model is available for locations where ambient temperatures or humidity levels could otherwise reduce efficiency.
Cleaning follows from the parts named: the evaporator plate and water tray must be descaled monthly to prevent mineral build-up; the storage bin should be emptied and wiped daily to keep cubes hygienic; and the exterior surfaces are cleaned with a damp cloth to remove dust and splashes. No additional tools or chemicals are required beyond standard food-safe descaler and sanitiser.
The SP 100/60 is listed in the KASTEL professional refrigeration catalogue under ice machines, alongside models that produce smaller or larger daily quantities.
