A drop-in heated surface keeps food at serving temperature directly on the worktop, eliminating the need to transfer hot pans from a separate warming cabinet. The unit uses an electric element beneath a flat stainless steel plate to distribute gentle, even heat across the entire surface. This method prevents hot spots and scorching, allowing pans to be held at a steady temperature without further cooking or drying out the contents.
The operator places up to three GN 1/1 gastronorm pans on the heated plate, sets the desired temperature between 30 °C and 85 °C, and leaves the food to hold until service. The surface remains level with the surrounding worktop, so pans slide on and off without lifting, reducing strain and spillage risk. A thermostat maintains the chosen temperature automatically, freeing staff to attend to other tasks.
Constructed from stainless steel, the unit is built into a cut-out measuring 1040 by 575 mm, with an overall size of 1099 mm wide, 600 mm deep and 120 mm high. The 1.65 kW power rating draws a steady load suitable for a standard commercial circuit, avoiding the need for dedicated high-current wiring.
The temperature range of 30 °C to 85 °C covers holding for most hot dishes, from delicate sauces that must not boil to roasted meats that require a minimum safe temperature. The 1099 mm width accommodates three full-size gastronorm pans side by side, allowing separate items to be held simultaneously without flavour transfer. The shallow 120 mm height ensures the unit fits within standard worktop depths, leaving space beneath for cupboard storage or additional equipment.
Cleaning involves wiping the stainless steel surface after use and removing any food debris from the edges of the cut-out. The absence of moving parts or exposed elements simplifies maintenance, requiring only periodic checks of the thermostat and electrical connections.
