A ceramic hob heats a smooth, flat surface by passing electric current through embedded resistance elements. The elements warm the ceramic plate evenly, transferring heat directly to pots and pans without open flames or exposed coils. This method gives precise temperature control and a clean, uncluttered worktop that is easy to wipe down between services.
The operator places cookware on the ceramic surface, selects the desired temperature using the control panel, and waits for the hob to reach the set point. Once heated, the hob maintains the temperature within a narrow range, allowing consistent cooking results. The smooth ceramic surface distributes heat evenly across the base of the pan, reducing hot spots and preventing scorching. When cooking is complete, the hob can be switched off, and the surface cools gradually, ready for cleaning or the next task.
The hob is constructed from a single sheet of ceramic glass, mounted in a stainless-steel frame. The frame provides structural support and protects the edges of the ceramic plate from impact. The control panel is integrated into the front of the unit, allowing easy access without reaching over hot surfaces.
The temperature range of +20 to +100 °C covers gentle warming, simmering, and light boiling, making the hob suitable for sauces, soups, and delicate dishes that require steady, low heat. The 645 mm depth and 1050 mm width allow the hob to fit seamlessly into standard worktop configurations, providing a continuous cooking surface without gaps or obstructions.
Cleaning involves wiping the ceramic surface with a damp cloth once it has cooled. The smooth, non-porous material resists staining and does not absorb food residues, so spills can be removed without scrubbing. The stainless-steel frame can be cleaned with a mild detergent to remove grease or fingerprints.
This model is designed for built-in installation, matching the height and profile of adjacent worktop appliances. It is placed in the BHS catalogue under ceramic hobs for professional kitchens.
