A heated upper shelf keeps plates, bowls and serving dishes warm without a separate warming cabinet. The shelf sits above a worktop or prep table, using a low-wattage element beneath its surface to radiate gentle heat upwards. This steady warmth prevents food from cooling during plating or holding, so hot meals reach the pass at the correct temperature. Because the heat is indirect and the surface remains below 60 °C, there is no risk of scorching or drying out delicate items such as sauces or pastries.
The operator places clean, empty plates or dishes directly on the shelf and leaves them to warm. Once the shelf reaches its set temperature, it holds that level automatically, so no further adjustment is needed. Plates can be loaded and unloaded at any time without interrupting the cycle. The shelf is designed to run continuously during service, so it is always ready when the next order is plated.
The shelf is constructed from a single sheet of stainless steel, folded to form a shallow tray with a turned edge. The heating element is sealed beneath the tray, protected from spills and cleaning. The unit mounts on adjustable brackets that bolt to the uprights of Table 1000, allowing the height to be set to match the workflow. A simple rotary knob on the underside sets the temperature; once set, the shelf maintains the chosen level without further intervention.
The 1000 mm length matches the standard Table 1000 worktop, providing a full metre of warming space. The 300 mm depth gives enough room for two rows of plates or a single row of larger serving dishes. The 400 mm height from the worktop allows clearance for stacked plates and for the operator's hands when loading or unloading. The 0.6 kW power rating draws a modest load, so the shelf can be added to an existing circuit without overloading it. The maximum temperature of 60 °C is sufficient to keep plates warm but low enough to avoid overheating or damaging heat-sensitive items.
Cleaning is straightforward: the stainless steel surface is wiped down with a damp cloth and mild detergent after service. The turned edge prevents liquids from running off, so spills stay contained. The heating element is sealed, so no water enters the housing. The shelf is removed from its brackets for deep cleaning or to free the worktop for other tasks.
This shelf is made for Table 1000 workstations and fits no other make.
