An evaporator fan circulates cold air across the evaporator coil in a refrigeration unit, pulling heat from the stored food and maintaining an even temperature throughout the cabinet. Without this airflow, warm pockets form, spoilage accelerates and energy use rises. The fan sits directly behind the coil, drawing air through the fins and pushing it back into the chamber in a steady stream.
In use, the fan runs continuously while the compressor is active, turning whenever the thermostat calls for cooling. It starts automatically with the refrigeration cycle and stops when the set temperature is reached. No operator intervention is needed beyond ensuring the fan grille remains unobstructed and the coil is free of ice.
This BHS replacement fan measures 172 mm by 150 mm by 38 mm and is rated for evaporator sections operating between -5 °C and +8 °C. It fits the specified 1 1/2 to 4 1/2-section models of BHS blast chillers and freezers, matching the original part for airflow pattern and mounting points.
The unit is supplied as a single fan assembly, ready to install in the designated position behind the evaporator coil. No additional brackets or wiring are required; it connects directly to the existing power lead and secures with the original fixings.
Cleaning follows the same routine as the evaporator coil: a soft brush removes dust from the blades and grille, and a damp cloth wipes the housing. No water should enter the motor, and no lubrication is needed during service life.
