A refrigeration door gasket creates an airtight barrier between the cabinet and its door, blocking warm air from entering and cold air from leaking out. This seal maintains the internal temperature, reduces the load on the compressor and keeps stored food at a consistent chill. The gasket compresses against the metal frame when the door closes, filling any gaps, and springs back when the door opens to allow easy access without manual adjustment.
To replace the gasket, the operator peels away the old seal from the door channel or removes any retaining strip. The new gasket is aligned along the door edge, starting at one corner and working around the full perimeter. The magnetic strip or compression lip must face inward towards the cabinet. Once positioned, the gasket is pressed firmly into the channel or secured with the retaining strip. The door is then closed to verify the seal is even and unbroken around the entire frame.
The gasket is made of flexible white PVC with an embedded magnetic insert. The magnet clings to the metal cabinet frame, holding the door shut without additional latches. The dimensions 585 x 1620 mm match the perimeter of the door it seals, ensuring full coverage without overlap or gaps. This size fits Tefcold refrigeration units, replacing worn or damaged seals that have hardened, cracked or lost their magnetic hold.
A failing gasket causes frost build-up inside the cabinet and inconsistent cooling, increasing energy use. Replacing it restores the original insulation performance, reducing running costs and protecting food quality.
