This multifunctional hot display case with bain-maries combines efficient heat retention with convenient access, making it ideal for self-service areas, cafés, and canteens.
Temperature range: up to +70°C
3 GN1/1 (65 mm)
A hot display case with bain-maries keeps prepared dishes at serving temperature while presenting them to customers. The unit circulates warm air around two gastronorm-compatible wells, maintaining an even heat without drying the food. A bain-marie system uses water or steam to transfer heat gently, preserving moisture and texture in sauces, stews and delicate items. The glass front and illuminated interior create an attractive display that encourages impulse purchases in buffets, delicatessens and self-service restaurants.
To operate the SAYL Splendid CS3, the operator fills the wells with water to the marked level, then switches the unit on. The built-in heating element warms the water, which in turn heats the gastronorm containers placed inside. Front and rear access hatches allow staff to replenish dishes from either side, making the case suitable for both self-service counters and double-sided service lines. A removable glass shelf above the wells provides additional display space for plated items or garnishes. The temperature is pre-set to +70 °C, ensuring food remains above the safe holding threshold without further adjustment.
The case is constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel and tempered glass, materials chosen for resistance to corrosion, staining and thermal shock. A drainage system beneath the wells collects condensation and spillage, directing it to an external outlet for quick removal. The motor compartment is housed in a compact enclosure at the rear, minimising the footprint on the worktop.
Controls are limited to a single power switch, simplifying operation in busy kitchens. The 230 V supply matches standard UK commercial circuits, allowing the unit to be installed without additional wiring. The overall dimensions of 1020 mm wide, 650 mm deep and 420 mm high fit within most counter layouts, while the 1810 W power rating reflects the load required to maintain the bain-marie temperature.
Cleaning involves removing the glass shelf and gastronorm containers, then wiping down the stainless steel surfaces with a mild detergent. The drainage outlet is opened to flush out any residue, and the wells are dried before the next use. The tempered glass panels are cleaned with a non-abrasive cloth to maintain visibility and appearance.
The Splendid CS3 holds two GN1/1 containers at a 65 mm depth, accommodating standard catering trays for hot holding. The unit is positioned in the SAYL catalogue under hot display equipment for professional foodservice environments.
