A circlip is a small but essential retaining ring that fits into a groove on a roller axle, holding the roller securely in place without the need for threads or fasteners. In professional catering and refrigeration equipment, rollers allow shelves, drawers or sliding components to move smoothly under load. Over time, vibration and repeated use can cause a circlip to wear or dislodge, leading to misalignment or jamming. Replacing it restores the original precision of the roller assembly, ensuring smooth operation and preventing damage to adjacent parts.
To fit the circlip, the operator first removes the old ring with circlip pliers, taking care not to distort the groove. The new circlip is then expanded slightly with the pliers, slipped over the axle, and released into the groove. Once seated, it should lie flat and flush, with no visible gap between the ring and the groove. The roller is then tested for free rotation before the equipment is returned to service.
This circlip is manufactured as a direct replacement for Tefcold roller assemblies, maintaining the same dimensions and material properties as the original part. It is used in a range of Tefcold refrigeration units, display cabinets and worktop appliances where roller mechanisms are fitted.
