Professional BHS HNCA central island hood for low ceilings. Equipped with stainless steel cyclonic filters (up to 95% efficiency), LED lighting, and customizable configuration. An efficient, safe, and aesthetic solution for professional ventilation.
A central island ventilation hood draws contaminated air upwards from cooking stations positioned away from walls, capturing heat, steam and grease before they spread across the kitchen. The hood forms a canopy above the worktop; inside it, cyclonic grease filters spin the air so centrifugal force flings grease droplets against the stainless-steel walls, where they coalesce and drain into a removable tray. Cleaner air is then ducted out through an exhaust collar, while fresh air is drawn in from the room to replace it, maintaining negative pressure that keeps cooking fumes contained.
The operator lowers the hood to the correct height above the hob or grill, switches on the built-in LED lighting and starts the extraction fan. Six cyclonic grease filters rotate continuously, removing up to 95% of airborne grease particles. A balancing damper in the exhaust collar adjusts the airflow rate to match the kitchen's heat load, while a light switch controls the 500 LUX LED array that illuminates the work surface below. When cooking finishes, the operator turns off the fan and lighting, removes the grease tray for cleaning, and wipes down the powder-coated exterior panels.
The canopy is constructed from stainless steel with a minimum thickness of 0.8 mm, ensuring durability and corrosion resistance. Cyclonic grease filters are also stainless steel, designed to be removed and washed without tools. The exterior is finished in a powder-coated layer for a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. Decorative cover panels clip on and off for access to internal components, and the exhaust collar measures 400 mm in diameter for connection to standard ducting.
Controls include a main light switch for the LED array and an adjustable exhaust damper that regulates the volume of air extracted. The LED lighting is rated IP65, protecting it from water jets and grease splashes, while the hood's overall design allows modular extension to fit larger kitchen islands.
A maximum exhaust airflow rate of 4050 m³/h indicates the volume of air the hood can move each hour, determining its suitability for kitchens with high heat output. The footprint of 1500 mm by 1400 mm defines the space the hood occupies above the island, while a height of 480 mm ensures it fits under low ceilings. The six grease filters reduce duct cleaning frequency, lowering maintenance costs and fire risk.
Cleaning involves removing the grease tray and washing it separately, then wiping the stainless-steel filters and canopy interior with a damp cloth. The powder-coated exterior panels resist staining and can be cleaned with mild detergent. Cyclonic filters should be inspected monthly and replaced if damaged or worn.
The HNCA 1500 is available in widths of 1600 mm, 1800 mm and 2000 mm, each with a proportional increase in exhaust capacity. All versions can be linked in modular assemblies to cover larger islands or multiple cooking stations.
This hood is categorised as a central island ventilation solution for professional kitchens, cafés and food production areas, designed for low-ceiling environments requiring high-efficiency air extraction and grease filtration.
