A freshground coffee machine that combines whole beans and instant ingredients in a single unit, the FreshGround 121 delivers a broad menu of hot drinks without switching appliances. One bean canister feeds the grinder while two instant canisters dispense topping or cocoa powder, allowing baristas to assemble espresso-based drinks, filter coffee and speciality beverages from one station.
The machine heats water to brewing temperature and meters it through a grinder into a brew chamber. A pump maintains consistent pressure, extracting soluble compounds from the ground coffee. The resulting liquid flows into a dispensing head, where it can be combined with instant ingredients from the secondary canisters. A permanent filter eliminates the need for disposable paper, while a paper-filter option remains available for operators who prefer it. Switching between the two methods requires no tools and can be performed on-site.
Operation begins by loading the bean canister with up to 2.4 kg of whole beans and filling the instant canisters with up to 1.3 L each of powdered ingredients. The operator selects the desired beverage from the control panel, which then activates the grinder, heats the water and meters the correct volume. A single brew cycle produces 480 ml of coffee, equivalent to two standard cups. The machine continues cycling until the programmed quantity is reached, with a maximum throughput of 18.75 L per hour.
Constructed from stainless steel, the FreshGround 121 measures 335 mm deep, 505 mm wide and 915 mm high, fitting beneath standard worktop overhangs. The 2.3 kW heating element draws power from a 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz supply, typical of commercial circuits. A single mixing unit blends the brewed coffee with instant additives before dispensing.
The control panel governs brew volume, temperature and ingredient ratios, allowing precise adjustment for each drink type. The 2.3 kW power rating indicates the load on the electrical circuit, while the 18.75 L hourly throughput determines the maximum number of servings during peak demand. The footprint of 335 × 505 mm dictates the counter space required, and the 915 mm height ensures clearance beneath shelves or extractor hoods.
Cleaning involves removing the bean and instant canisters for emptying and wiping, rinsing the permanent filter under running water and descaling the water path at intervals recommended by water hardness. The paperless filter reduces waste and eliminates the need to stock consumables, while the paper-filter option remains available for operators who prefer traditional methods.
The FreshGround 121 is categorised under professional coffee equipment, specifically freshground machines with instant topping capabilities.
