A drop-in bain marie basin keeps prepared food at serving temperature without drying or scorching. The basin sits in a cut-out in the worktop and is filled with warm water. Heat from an electric element below the water gently warms the water, which in turn transfers heat evenly to the food containers placed inside. This water bath method prevents hot spots and keeps sauces, soups and other dishes at a consistent, safe temperature for hours.
The operator cuts a 380 by 580 mm opening in the worktop, lowers the basin into place and secures it. The basin is then filled with water to the marked level. After the unit is plugged in, the thermostat is set between +2 and +8 °C, the range that keeps food out of the danger zone while preserving texture and flavour. Food containers are placed directly into the water, and the lid is closed to retain heat and reduce evaporation.
The basin is constructed of stainless steel for durability and hygiene. The exterior dimensions of 395 by 600 by 275 mm ensure a snug fit in the worktop cut-out, leaving a narrow rim for sealing. A 0.75 kW heating element provides enough power to maintain the set temperature without overloading a standard kitchen circuit.
The temperature control allows precise adjustment within the +2 to +8 °C range, ensuring food is held at the correct temperature for service. The 395 mm width fits standard worktop modules, making it easy to integrate into existing kitchen layouts. The stainless steel construction simplifies cleaning; after use, the water is drained, and the basin is wiped down with a sanitising solution to remove food residue and prevent bacterial growth.
This model is designed as a drop-in unit for seamless integration into professional catering worktops.
