This safety valve provides automatic pressure relief for pressurised water circuits in espresso machines. If internal pressure rises beyond safe levels, the valve activates at its set point of 12 bar, releasing excess steam or water to prevent equipment failure or injury. The mechanism operates mechanically without power or external controls, responding solely to pressure changes within the system.
A spring-loaded disc remains sealed until pressure reaches the calibrated threshold. Once triggered, the disc lifts to vent pressure through the outlet. When pressure falls below the set point, the spring reseats the disc, restoring the seal. The valve requires no manual operation or adjustment, as the set point is factory-calibrated and tamper-proof.
Installation involves threading the valve directly into the boiler or high-pressure circuit, typically using BSP or NPT fittings. The valve must be mounted vertically with the outlet facing downward to safely direct any discharged steam or water away from people and nearby equipment.
Designed as a spare part for SCHAERER espresso machines, this valve may also suit other commercial coffee equipment with matching thread size and pressure rating. It is built from corrosion-resistant materials for continuous use in hot water and steam environments.
Maintenance is limited to periodic visual checks for leaks or corrosion. The valve is a sealed unit and should be replaced rather than serviced.
