A manometer measures the pressure inside a boiler or steam circuit, giving the operator the reading that decides extraction quality and safety. In an espresso machine the boiler is pressurised with hot water and steam; the gauge shows the current bar value so the barista can adjust the heat or the pump to keep the pressure within the range that pulls a balanced shot. Without the gauge, the machine would run blind, risking over-extraction or under-extraction and possible damage to the seals or the boiler itself.
The sequence is simple: the manometer is threaded into a port on the boiler or the group head. Once the machine is switched on and the boiler reaches operating temperature, the needle moves to the pressure reading. The operator watches the needle while the shot is pulled and makes small adjustments to the heat or the pump setting if the pressure drifts. When the machine is shut down, the needle returns to zero.
This 16 bar manometer is built to fit SCHAERER espresso machines. The casing is metal, sealed against steam and moisture, and the dial is marked in bar units up to 16, the typical maximum pressure for commercial espresso extraction. The thread size and the pressure range match the original part, so it drops straight into the port without modification.
A 16 bar range means the gauge can read the full spectrum of pressures used in professional espresso making, from the low end for pre-infusion to the high end for milk steaming. The weight and footprint are negligible; it is a small component that sits on the front panel or the side of the machine, taking no extra space on the worktop.
Cleaning is limited to wiping the glass face with a damp cloth to keep the dial legible. No disassembly is needed, and no internal parts require maintenance. The metal casing protects the mechanism from steam and splashes, so the gauge remains accurate for the life of the machine.
This is the direct replacement for the original SCHAERER manometer, listed in the coffee equipment spare-parts catalogue under steam and water systems.
