A foamerhead nozzle connection channels pressurised steam from the espresso machine's boiler into the milk pitcher. The steam enters the nozzle at high velocity, drawing cold milk through a small venturi opening. As the milk mixes with the steam, the proteins unfold and trap tiny air bubbles, creating the microfoam texture needed for cappuccinos and lattes. Without a secure, leak-free connection, the steam pressure drops and the froth becomes coarse or watery.
The operator attaches the nozzle connection to the steam wand with a quarter-turn bayonet fitting. Once locked in place, the steam valve is opened; the wand is lowered into the chilled milk and the tip is positioned just below the surface. As the milk volume expands, the pitcher is gradually lowered to keep the tip submerged and maintain the whirlpool that evenly distributes the foam. When the desired temperature and texture are reached, the steam valve is closed and the wand is removed. The nozzle connection is then detached, rinsed under hot water and wiped dry to prevent milk residue from hardening.
Constructed as a single piece, the SCHAERER foamerhead nozzle connection fits the steam wands of compatible SCHAERER espresso machines.
This spare part is listed in the SCHAERER catalogue under steam-system components for professional espresso equipment.
