This high-quality GN refrigerated display cabinet is designed for professional use in the foodservice sector, ensuring reliable and efficient storage of food in GN 1/1 containers. It is a plug-in type cabinet, meaning it can be simply connected to a power source and used immediately.
A refrigerated display cabinet keeps prepared food chilled while presenting it to customers or staff. The static cooling system circulates cold air gently, avoiding dehydration and maintaining the texture of uncovered dishes. A fanless design also reduces noise and vibration, which is useful in open kitchens and service counters where quiet operation matters. The cooling cycle runs continuously, drawing heat from the cabinet interior and expelling it through a condenser coil at the side. Because there is no forced air movement, temperature stratification can occur, so the cabinet is best suited to items that do not need rapid chilling or uniform airflow across every shelf.
To use the VRPG/15S, place it on a level worktop or counter. Plug the single 230 V supply into a dedicated circuit to avoid overloading other kitchen equipment. Slide GN 1/3 trays into the six slots; the optional glass shelf can be positioned above the trays to create an additional display level. Set the desired temperature between +2 °C and +8 °C using the 2.2-inch touch control panel. The digital display shows the current reading, and the automatic defrost programme runs at intervals, pausing when the door is opened to prevent warm air entering. Once the cabinet reaches the set point, it maintains the temperature without further adjustment.
The cabinet is built from stainless steel throughout, inside and out. Stainless steel resists corrosion from cleaning chemicals and food acids, and its smooth surface allows quick wipe-downs between service periods. The technical compartment on the right side houses the compressor, condenser and refrigerant lines, giving engineers access without moving the unit or disturbing stored food. A single door with a magnetic seal keeps cold air inside and warm air out; the seal should be checked regularly for wear to maintain efficiency.
The 1500 mm width fits standard worktop depths and allows the cabinet to sit flush against a wall or between other counter-top appliances. At 31 kg, two people can lift it onto a work surface or trolley for repositioning. The 0.145 kW power rating means it draws less current than many larger refrigeration units, reducing the load on kitchen circuits. The temperature range of +2 °C to +8 °C is suitable for holding ready-to-eat dishes, dairy products and pre-packaged items that require chilled storage but not freezing.
Cleaning involves wiping the interior and exterior with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then drying to prevent water spots. The glass shelf can be removed for separate cleaning. The automatic defrost function reduces ice build-up, but the condenser coil should be vacuumed periodically to remove dust that can insulate the coil and reduce cooling efficiency. The touch control panel can be wiped with a soft cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the display.
The VRPG/15S model includes a glass shelf as an additional feature. GN 1/3 trays are not supplied, allowing operators to choose trays that match their menu and portion sizes. The cabinet is classified as climate class 5, meaning it can maintain its temperature range even when the surrounding air reaches +40 °C, which is common in busy professional kitchens during peak service.
This refrigerated display cabinet is listed in the GEMM professional refrigeration catalogue under counter-top and worktop units.
