A tea filter of this type holds loose tea leaves suspended in hot water so the leaves steep evenly without clumping or floating to the surface. The water circulates through the leaves, extracting flavour and colour at a controlled rate. The result is a uniform brew that can be drawn off continuously without disturbing the leaves, making it practical for large-volume tea service in professional kitchens.
The operator fills the filter with the required quantity of loose tea, then lowers it into a tank or urn of heated water. Once the filter is submerged, the water flows through the mesh, steeping the leaves. After the set brewing time, the filter is lifted out, leaving the brewed tea behind. The leaves remain contained, so the tea can be served directly from the tank without straining or sediment.
Constructed in stainless steel, the filter is a cylindrical basket with a fine mesh base and sides. The 325 mm diameter allows it to fit standard commercial tea urns and brewing vessels, while the 40 litre volume is sized for batch production of several dozen servings at once.
Cleaning follows from the construction: the mesh must be rinsed after each use to remove trapped leaves and prevent residue build-up. The stainless steel body can be washed with standard kitchen detergents and sanitised as part of routine equipment upkeep.
This model is listed in the BRAVILOR BONOMAT catalogue under tea preparation equipment for catering and hospitality.
