ASTRA SS

ASTRA SS — standard-class laundry dryers 11–80 kg

ASTRA SS is the class most establishments choose after calculating what they truly need. The Danube designation indicates that the ASTRA SS series has the same standard features and capabilities as the SILVER class, but with a simpler EM electronic programmer where time and temperature are selected using buttons.

In practice, this means: the same mechanics, the same stainless steel cylinder, the same airflow system, and the same drying quality as the more expensive class — but without a touchscreen or internet connection. If no one in the establishment programs cycles or monitors consumption remotely, there is no point in paying for those features.

The series is available from 11 to 80 kg, covering virtually any establishment — from a hotel laundry room to an industrial laundry.

Standard equipment

  • EM programmer — electronic control with buttons for selecting time and temperature. Staff do not need training.
  • Stainless steel cylinder as standard — resistant to moisture and detergent chemistry, lasting longer than galvanised steel.
  • Reversing cylinder on all models — laundry does not tangle in one twist and dries evenly.
  • Double Flow — combined axial and radial airflow that optimises air circulation in the cylinder.
  • Soft Dry — cylinder with punched openings that treat fabric gently.
  • Cool Down — cooling at the end of the cycle to prevent wrinkling and make ironing easier.
  • Grey skinplate body and wide-opening doors at 180°.
  • Large-surface filter drawer — easy to clean daily.
  • Electric, gas or steam heating — adaptable to the establishment’s infrastructure.

When ASTRA SS is the right choice

  • For hotels, guesthouses and manufacturers with regular but not maximum workloads.
  • When the equipment is used by varying staff and the interface needs to be self-explanatory.
  • When large capacity is needed — 45, 60 or 80 kg — without paying extra for a touchscreen.
  • When there is no need to monitor consumption remotely in the establishment.
  • When steam heating is required, which is not available in the BASIC class.

Frequently asked questions

How does ASTRA SS differ from SILVER?

By control. ASTRA SS has buttons for selecting time and temperature, while SILVER has a 7" touchscreen with programmable cycles and IoT connection for remote monitoring. Mechanics, cylinder, airflow and drying quality are the same.

How does ASTRA SS differ from BASIC?

ASTRA SS has a stainless steel cylinder instead of galvanised, a skinplate body, capacity up to 80 kg 35 kg instead, and steam heating available. Control is the same for both — using buttons.

Is it worth paying more for SILVER?

It is worth it if you want to program your own cycles for specific fabrics, monitor consumption and faults remotely, or plan Care Dry moisture control. If not, ASTRA SS delivers the same result at a lower cost.

Can the EM programmer show remaining time?

Not in the standard version, but a display showing time, temperature and programme is available as an optional extra. If the equipment will be used by several employees, we recommend ordering it immediately.

Is ASTRA SS available in a steam version?

Yes. Single-chamber DD ASTRA SS models are available with electric, gas or steam heating. Double-chamber STD ASTRA SS XP — electric or gas.

Is an exhaust duct needed?

Yes, the ASTRA SS series requires an air exhaust. Only heat pump dryers can operate without an exhaust.

How to choose the capacity?

The dryer should be at least as large as the washing machine, ideally slightly larger — so that laundry has room to move freely while drying.
