ASTRA S — basic class laundry dryers for 11–35 kg loads
Not every establishment needs a touchscreen, internet connection and twenty programmes. Many places simply need a durable industrial dryer that staff can switch on with a button and that will work every day for years. That is exactly what the Danube BASIC series is.
Danube indicates that the BASIC series is designed specifically for businesses with clearly defined needs for basic technical specifications, and that its main advantage is the price-to-quality ratio while maintaining high quality standards.
What is still standard in the BASIC class
A lower price does not mean weaker drying. The BASIC series comes as standard with a reversible cylinder, frequency converter and dual axial and radial airflow, and it maintains the same performance and drying quality level as the other series.
- Reversible cylinder — the cylinder changes rotation direction, so laundry does not twist into a single strand and dries evenly.
- Frequency converter as standard — smoother operation and gentler mechanical load.
- Double Flow — mixed axial and radial airflow in the cylinder.
- Soft Dry — cylinder with punched openings that treat fabric gently and do not create snagging points.
- Cool Down — cooling at the end of the cycle to prevent wrinkling.
- Doors that open wide to 180° and a large-surface-area filter drawer.
- EM programmer — electronic control with buttons for time and temperature selection.
How BASIC differs from more expensive classes
To be honest — in control and body material, not in drying quality.
- Control with buttons, not a touchscreen. There are no programmable cycles and no internet connection for remote monitoring.
- Galvanised steel body with white-painted panels, not skinplate or stainless steel.
- Galvanised steel cylinder, not stainless steel.
- Capacity up to 35 kg — for larger volumes, look at the BRONZE or SILVER class, which is available up to 80 kg.
- No energy-saving functions — Care Dry moisture control and energy recovery are GOLD class features.
Who BASIC is the right choice for
- Small and medium-sized establishments with moderate daily workloads.
- When the equipment is used by changing staff and the controls need to be self-explanatory.
- As a backup or second dryer next to the existing machine.
- When the budget is limited but domestic appliances can no longer handle the workload.
- Seasonal establishments — campsites, guest houses, equestrian centres.

Frequently asked questions
Does BASIC dry worse than more expensive classes?
No. Danube indicates that BASIC maintains the same performance and drying quality level as the other series. The difference lies in control, body material and energy-saving functions, not in drying results.
How does BASIC differ from BRONZE?
Both have EM control with buttons. BRONZE has a stainless steel cylinder, skinplate body and capacities up to 80 kg. BASIC has a galvanised cylinder, white-painted panels and capacities up to 35 kg. If the machine will operate in a damp environment or with chemically aggressive detergents, the stainless steel cylinder will last longer.
Can a BASIC dryer be placed on top of a washing machine?
Industrial DD BASIC series models — no. The professional DPR BASIC model in a column cannot be placed either, unlike other DPR versions. If you need a column, look at the DPR EM or ET2 versions.
How long does such equipment last?
This is industrial equipment, not domestic appliances, and is designed for daily commercial use. Service life is most influenced not by the class but by how regularly the filter is cleaned.
Is an exhaust duct needed?
Yes, the BASIC series requires an air exhaust.
Electric or gas?
If the establishment has a gas connection, the gas model is usually cheaper to operate.
Can you later upgrade to a higher class?
The class is determined during production and cannot be changed later. If you anticipate that the workload will grow or remote monitoring will be needed, consider BRONZE or SILVER from the start.
