Barrier-type (sanitary) laundry machines 16–100 kg
A barrier-type laundry machine is the only way to physically separate soiled linen from clean linen. The machine is built into a partition wall and has two opposite doors that open at a 180° angle: soiled linen is loaded from one side and removed from the other. This prevents cross-contamination between soiled and clean linen — a requirement without which no hospital, care home or cleanroom can operate.
Danube barrier-type machines comply with RABC standards and ensure staff safety, comfort and ergonomics. All models come as standard with Easy Touch 2 control featuring IoT connectivity and telemetry, providing full process traceability — exactly what hygiene audits require.
They are chosen by hospitals, care homes and nursing centres, health centres, laboratories, cleanroom manufacturers and food businesses.
Three series
MED-16-22 ET2 — 16 and 22 kg MEDICAL series machines for smaller healthcare facilities. Damped, no floor anchoring required, which significantly simplifies installation. Spin speed 1000 rpm, G-factor 350. Skinplate body is easy to clean and prevents microbial growth.
DBW-27-35-50-70 ET2 — 27, 35, 50 and 70 kg machines for larger facilities where output must be guaranteed. G-factor 375, spin speed 920 rpm, Easy Touch 2 with 7" colour touchscreen on both sides. Models 27, 35 and 50 kg are also available with a Pullman split cylinder.
AS-100 ET2 PULLMAN — 100 kg machine for high output, as standard with Pullman cylinder, providing additional safety and ergonomics.
Key advantages
- Through-flow design with two 180° opposite doors — physical barrier between soiled and clean zones.
- Compliance with RABC standards — documented hygiene control throughout the process.
- Telemetry and full traceability as standard — every cycle, temperature and consumption is recorded, which can be presented during an audit.
- Easy Touch 2 with 7" touchscreen — fully programmable control; DBW series has a screen on both sides, MED series on the soiled side (clean side screen as an option).
- Stainless steel AISI 304 — cylinder, tub and top panel.
- Electric, steam or combined heating — adaptable to the facility’s infrastructure.
- Automatic cylinder positioning — when the door is opened, the cylinder stops in the correct position for unloading.
- Optimal Loading and Water Saving — water and detergent adjustment to the load and three economy levels.
- Wet Cleaning as standard and IoT connection Danube Online at no extra charge.
- MED series does not require floor anchoring — simplified installation in existing spaces.

Frequently asked questions
What is a barrier-type laundry machine?
It is a through-flow machine with two opposite doors, built into a partition wall between soiled and clean laundry rooms. Soiled linen is loaded from one side and removed from the other, and both doors can never be open at the same time. This physically prevents cross-contamination.
Where is a barrier-type machine mandatory?
In hospitals, care homes and nursing facilities, laboratories and cleanrooms, as well as food production plants — wherever hygiene requirements call for the separation of soiled and clean zones. Regulations typically specify infection control requirements and internal hygiene plans.
What is RABC?
Danube barrier-type machine telemetry records cycle parameters needed for this documentation.
Which series should I choose?
MED 16–22 kg — for small healthcare facilities and care homes; DBW 27–70 kg — for medium and large facilities with stable daily volumes; AS-100 — for large laundries and hospitals with high output.
Does the machine need to be anchored to the floor?
The MED series is damped and does not require anchoring, which significantly simplifies installation. DBW and AS-100 are free-standing.
What is a Pullman cylinder?
A cylinder divided into compartments, allowing several separate laundry batches to be processed simultaneously. This saves time and improves ergonomics during unloading. Standard on AS-100, optional on DBW-27, 35 and 50 models.
Is a partition wall required?
Yes, a barrier-type machine only works when built into a wall between two zones. When planning a space, this should be considered at the design stage — contact us, and we will help with a layout solution.
