Wall Shelves 500

Wall Shelves 500 are the stainless steel single-level wall shelf system LSX1 version with a 500 mm depth – the deepest and most capacious storage option in this series, designed for greater storage needs in restaurant, hotel, canteen and food processing kitchen environments. A 500 mm depth provides the largest single-shelf storage surface, allowing large containers, large restaurant dish sets or larger food packaging to be placed without the need for strict space optimisation. Wall shelves made of AISI304 stainless steel meet HACCP food hygiene requirements. BHS supplies stainless steel wall shelves for HoReCa needs.

The LSX1 system Wall Shelves 500 coordinate with narrower wall shelf options – Wall Shelves 300 and Wall Shelves 400 from the same LSX1 series, allowing different depth combinations to be created in a single kitchen. Also see Wall Shelves with Two Levels 500 from the LSX2 system if additional storage capacity is needed in height, or Wall Shelves for Equipment with Two Shelves LSI2 for placing heavier equipment.

Stainless steel Wall Shelves with a 500 mm depth from the LSX1 system provide maximum single-shelf storage capacity in HoReCa kitchen wall areas. With a 500 mm depth, the shelf can accommodate larger and heavier items than narrower options, offering a flexible solution for kitchens with high storage demand. BHS supplies stainless steel wall shelves for HoReCa kitchen furnishing.

500 mm depth – maximum storage capacity

The LSX1 system Wall Shelf with a 500 mm depth offers the largest storage area in this series. A 500 mm depth allows large food containers (GN containers, large pots, pans), large restaurant dish sets or two rows of containers in sequence, both front-to-back. This shelf is suitable for cases where kitchen wall storage is strategically important and wall depth is available. Compared to the 400 mm option, the 500 mm shelf provides approximately 25% more storage surface. The 500 mm depth shelf requires a larger free zone in front for ergonomic access, so it is most often installed in higher wall areas or above equipment with sufficient front space.

AISI304 steel – strength and hygiene for heavier loads

Using a larger depth wall shelf also means potentially greater load – the 500 mm shelf is often used for storing heavier items. The structural properties of AISI304 stainless steel provide sufficient rigidity and load-bearing capacity when the shelf is correctly secured to the wall with appropriate brackets. The smooth surface of the steel meets HACCP hygiene requirements – without pores or surfaces where bacteria can accumulate. The steel’s resistance to corrosion, moisture and commercial disinfectants ensures long-term use even in intensive kitchen conditions. AISI304 steel does not absorb fats or food particles, which is a critical advantage compared to wood or porous plastic alternatives.

Installation and stability

The LSX1 wall shelf 500 mm depth version is mounted to the wall using metal brackets. A greater depth requires a more robust bracket and careful installation at the wall fixing points to ensure stability when the shelf edge is fully loaded. The brackets must match the intended load – the maximum load is specified in the manufacturer’s documentation. The shelf is available in various lengths, allowing it to be adapted to the wall area. The 500 mm depth shelf can be combined with 300 or 400 mm shelves in a single wall system, arranging them at different height levels according to different item types.

HoReCa use in larger kitchens

In large restaurant kitchens with high production volumes, Wall Shelves 500 are used for storing dish sets, large inventory and storage items where another shelf is not deep enough. In catering company loading areas, the 500 mm shelf is suitable for storing transport containers or larger equipment elements. In food production spaces, the 500 mm depth shelf allows production accessories to be stored closer to the work area but outside the staff movement zone. BHS offers these shelves for HoReCa furnishing across Europe.

Frequently asked questions

Are Wall Shelves 500 harder to reach during work? A 500 mm depth shelf, mounted at a convenient height, is fully accessible from the front. If the shelf is mounted higher, the rear part may be harder to reach – take this into account when planning the placement of stored items. It is recommended to place frequently used items at the front and less frequently needed supplies at the back. Consult BHS for ergonomically optimal shelf placement.

Can different depth shelves from the LSX1 system be combined? Yes, shelves with different depths in the LSX1 system can be mounted in a single wall area. Above work surfaces, a narrower shelf (300-400 mm) is often installed, while higher up, a wider 500 mm shelf is used for heavier items. The combination with Wall Shelves 400 and Wall Shelves 300 creates a multifunctional storage system.
