Easy-Assembly Shelving

Also explore easy-assembly perforated shelving and drawer units for other stainless steel storage solutions.

Easy-Assembly Shelving — a multi-level freestanding shelving system made of AISI 304 stainless steel with high load-bearing capacity and adjustable levels, is a versatile storage solution for kitchens, warehouses and cold rooms in HoReCa establishments.

Design and technical parameters

Easy-Assembly Shelving — a freestanding shelving system differs from wall shelves in that it does not stand against the wall but on its own legs, providing greater placement flexibility. Leg and frame design — four vertical legs with perforation or grooves for adjustable height fixation; horizontal shelves can be secured at various heights; stainless steel tube or angle profile in the legs. Load-bearing capacity — AISI 304 shelves with the strongest design support a high load (150–300 kg per shelf); suitable for heavy GN containers, large product packaging and tableware storage. Number of shelves — standard systems include 3–5 shelf levels; using multiple levels allows efficient use of vertical space; the number of shelves can be expanded with additional elements. Height adjustment — each shelf is individually height-adjustable; 25–50 mm adjustment step; allows adapting the spacing between shelves for products of different sizes; shelf reorganisation without tools (click-fix mounting). BHS offers easy-assembly shelving.

Easy-Assembly Shelving — a freestanding shelving system is versatile and suitable for various kitchen and warehouse zones. Kitchen and preparation area — easy-assembly shelving in the active kitchen zone for storing tableware, GN containers with products and backup inventory; multi-level organisation significantly increases storage capacity in a small area. Cold room and freezer — stainless steel is resistant to low temperatures and humidity; shelving system in the cold room for storing GN containers by product category; FIFO (first in, first out) organisation reduces food waste. Use by volume — for a small kitchen space, use a narrower shelf (300–400 mm depth); for large warehouses — deeper shelves (500–600 mm); adjust shelf depth to the standard dimensions of GN containers or boxes.

HACCP compliance and hygiene management

Easy-Assembly Shelving — a freestanding shelving system made of stainless steel meets HACCP hygiene requirements, but proper storage organisation is equally important. Material compliance — AISI 304 stainless steel is an approved food-contact material; smooth surface without seams and sharp corners; resistant to food-cleaning chemicals. Product separation — store different product categories on different shelves or in separate sections; meat directly on the shelf or in a closed GN container; prepared and raw food — on separate shelves. Leg bases — shelf leg bases made of stainless steel or hygienic plastic; provide clearance from the floor (min. 150 mm recommended for HACCP); floor cleaning under the shelf should be included in the cleaning schedule; see double wall shelves.

HoReCa usage scenarios

FIFO system with date labelling; shelving for cold storage or room-temperature storage. Restaurant cold room with various products — easy-assembly shelving; each shelf for a product category (meat, vegetables, dairy products); adjustable height according to the size of GN containers. Canteen or catering kitchen with large food inventory — easy-assembly shelving; warehouse and kitchen work shelving in one system; BHS supplies the products.

Frequently asked questions

What shelf depth is optimal for storing GN 1/1 containers? Easy-Assembly Shelving — the standard size of a GN 1/1 container is 530×325 mm; a shelf depth of 500–600 mm is optimal for stable container placement; a deeper shelf (600 mm) allows storing two GN 1/2 containers side by side; see perforated shelving.

Is easy-assembly shelving suitable for a freezer with -18°C temperature? Easy-Assembly Shelving — AISI 304 stainless steel is resistant to low temperatures and suitable for freezers; shelf adjustment mechanisms may become stiffer in the cold but still function; plastic leg bases should be checked for cold resistance; see wall shelves.
