Double Wall Shelves — a two-level wall mounting system made of AISI 304 stainless steel provides double the storage capacity in the same wall space, making it the optimal solution for compact HoReCa kitchens where every square metre counts.

Design and advantages of double wall shelves

Double Wall Shelves — a two-level system differs from a single wall shelf in that one set of fittings supports two shelf surfaces, at the top and bottom. The upper and lower shelf — the upper shelf is usually positioned at a height of 1600–1800 mm from the floor, the lower shelf at 1300–1500 mm; the spacing between the shelves is 200–400 mm; both shelves are attached to the same wall bracket system. Double capacity — the double shelf in one mounting system area provides 2× more storage space than a single shelf; ideal for an actively used HoReCa kitchen wall area above the main worktop. Height adjustment — in many models, the height of the lower shelf is adjustable on the wall bracket; customisation for staff of different heights or for the products being stored. AISI 304 steel — stainless steel with high corrosion resistance; suitable for food contact and HACCP requirements; withstands moisture, heat and chemical cleaning agents. BHS offers double wall shelves.

Using double wall shelves in the kitchen

Double Wall Shelves — a two-level shelf system allows you to logically organise storage by the frequency and type of product or tool use. Upper shelf — less frequently used items, reserve inventory, large dishes; at a less accessible height; suitable for light, lightweight products. Lower shelf — frequently used items, spices, work dishes, serving accessories; at an ergonomically accessible height; often directly above the worktop surface. Organisation by process — use the upper shelf for preparation accessories, the lower shelf for finished products or serving; clear organisation reduces errors and increases efficiency. GN containers — the wall shelf is suitable for storing GN 1/1 and GN 1/2 containers; check the shelf depth (min. 350 mm GN 1/1); the shelf edges prevent the container from tipping.

Installation and HACCP compliance

Double Wall Shelves — proper installation and compliance with HACCP requirements ensure safe and hygienic use. Wall load-bearing capacity — before installation, check the wall material (concrete, brick or plasterboard); for two shelves with a load, the wall mounting requirements are doubled; consult with an installation specialist. Number of fittings — for longer double shelves (1000 mm and above), additional central fittings are required; wall anchors must match the total shelf load with a safety factor. Cleaning plan — regularly clean both shelf levels, including brackets and mounting areas; moisture accumulation in mounting areas creates biological risks; all parts are washable with food-safe cleaning agents; see wall shelves.

HoReCa usage scenarios

Compact restaurant HoReCa bar or hot kitchen with limited wall space — double wall shelves; a two-level system doubles the capacity in the same wall area. Hotel breakfast kitchen with a large assortment — double wall shelves; upper level for cereals and reserves, lower level for active work dishes. Canteen hot food area with many spices and sauces — double wall shelves; upper level for less frequently used spices, lower level for active ones; structured order speeds up preparation; BHS supplies the product.

Frequently asked questions

Are double wall shelves suitable for heavy loads? Double Wall Shelves — the load-bearing capacity depends on the model and wall mounting; a standard AISI 304 double shelf supports 30–80 kg on each level; for heavy loads (large pans, large inventory), it is recommended to choose reinforced models and check the wall mounting compliance; see easy-assembly shelves for heavier loads.

What is the optimal spacing between the two shelf levels? Double Wall Shelves — the optimal spacing is 250–350 mm; a smaller gap makes removal and placement difficult; a larger gap reduces the practical height of the upper shelf; check the height of the stored products and choose a model accordingly; see single-level wall shelves.
